Maybe he’s onto something here, though—how much of today’s “standards” really reflect God’s standards? This guy’s remarks are a symptom of a much greater problem: the idolatry of man.

I don’t think it’s a new problem… I think it’s always been this way with those “who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth” (v.18). And while that may be a “church,” it sounds like it’s no part of the ekklesia.

Funny, I hear Weird Al’s song as a take on the Gospel—everything in it sounds backwards to how people think God and sin and death and Hell should be.
