Maybe he’s onto something here, though�how much of today’s “standards” really reflect God’s standards? This guy’s remarks are a symptom of a much greater problem: the idolatry of man.

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity…

I don’t think it’s a new problem… I think it’s always been this way with those “who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth” (v.18). And while that may be a “church,” it sounds like it’s no part of the ekklesia.

Funny, I hear Weird Al’s song as a take on the Gospel�everything in it sounds backwards to how people think God and sin and death and Hell should be.
